LIVE BETTING
ACTTAB is introducing live betting on selected sports events. Following is an overview of the product, operational issues and changes.
What is live betting?
Live betting is betting on an event while the event is underway. For example, betting on an AFL match after it has started.
Live betting is not currently available via the internet due to Federal legislation, but is available in cash retail outlets and via the operator assisted call centre on 1300 228 822.
New Sport
There will be a new sport listed on all sports information displays - Live Betting. The Live Betting sport will contain all betting markets that are currently live and available for live betting.
Volatile odds
Depending on the sport, odds can change drastically from one moment to the next. An example is cricket where a wicket can completely change the make-up of a match which will result in a corresponding movement in odds.
Customer displays are indicative only and you should expect the actual odds to regularly differ from those displayed. Further, because of the possibility for a sudden, drastic change in odds, ACTTAB's live betting implementation includes a bet delay.
Bet delays
To allow bookmakers to change odds in the run following significant match events, any bets placed on a live event are automatically delayed. The maximum delay is 10 seconds (plus any additional network delays).
The change from pre-live betting to live betting
Up until the event start time, all betting markets for that event will appear in the usual place in the sports hierarchy on sports displays. After the event start time, the event is classed as "live" and its betting markets will stop appearing in the regular location and will appear under Live Sport.
For example, an NRL game (Broncos v Roosters) has a Head to Head and Line market and a start time of 7.30pm. Before 7.30pm the events Broncos v Roosters Head to Head and Broncos v Roosters Line will appear under the Rugby League sport. After 7.30pm, those two markets will become "live", and will appear under Live Sport.
Due to network latency, there is a delay of up to 2 minutes for this transition to occur which will mean that for up to 2 minutes after an event starts, it may still appear under its pre-live sport.
Cancellations
Normal cancellation rules apply to these Live Sports bets.
